Unofficial Advance Party Heading out to Idaho

The unofficial advance party for the Idaho Fish-In is packing up and heading out this week, with most arriving Thursday. That would be myself and my lovely wife and fishing partner VEE, David L and his lovely wife Dianna, and our buddy Z, with his faithful dog Miss Lady.

We are depriving ourselves of TV, Cell Phones and Computers, so we can check out the rivers to insure that there is actually water in them and that some trouts inhabit those waters. We'll also be sampling the local cuisine to make sure it meets FAOL standards, making sure the firewood burns well in campfires and lastly, ensuring that the stars are as bright as they should be.

We will do our best to make sure there are ample deer, wild turkeys and squirrels wandering through camp.

Some of us will also remain after the Fish-In is over to make sure we haven't disrupted the water flow or spooked all the fish so the locals will welcome us back next year.

It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

So, if members of this community disappear from the BB and chatroom for a week or more, don't fret. They're probably in Idaho braving the wilderness with the rest of us.

Ron, I'm truly jealous! I hope y'all have a fantastic time.

Another week of fall spent in Lowell! I always plan my fishing trips around this one week of the year.

Miss Lady is all packed and looking forward to making sure that turkeys can still fly and squirrels can scamper.

Camper goes on the truck tomorrow, we arrive on the 15th to spend a few days on the Selway then head down to camp to partake in the fun!

Jeez guys, save some fish for me, I don't get there until Saturday afternoon!

Ree sir I know if the stars arn't bright enough you'll polish them up to shine, I do hope all of you have one of the best times of your lives and have memories to cheris... Dang! I can almost smell the coffee on the fire... Enjoy...:)

I'm looking forward to it too. Z, what kind of truck do you drive. I'm still not sure if I'm soloing, or if my wife will be joining me, but if not then I'll need to know where to look on Friday afternoon.
I'm bumbed that I won't get to meet some of you late comers, I have to head back on Sunday, but at least I'll be there for a little while.

TT, I drive a Chevy with a Pastime camper. I'll be in site 14.

Sounds like a few folks will make it for the first weekend, and others will be arriving as the week goes by.

I'm looking at the weather...looks like a significan't chance of rain all weekend. My wife doesn't want to go if it's going to be raining, and I'm not sure I want to ride my motorcycle in the rain if I come alone...might have to postpone till the next weekend if that's the case. I'll be keeping a very close eye on it though.

Traditionally this Idaho Fish-In has not been hit with rain, I recall ONE day when there was something planned and it rained. Just not usually the time of year for rain there. Hope that holds true.

Me too! I've been really looking forward to this little trip. Noaa seems to think that there is a good chance on Saturday, and a moderate chance on Sunday, same with up here. I'd hate to run into snow in the passes on my bike, lol. I'm not what you'd call a fair weather fisherman, but I don't like to take chances on the bike. I guess I'll just have to play it by ear, and if worst comes to worst, I'll take the trooper.

Well..with my eye close on the weather, I don't think that I'm going to go this weekend. Next weekend is still a possibility, especially if the weather is nicer. I'm really bummed. I was looking forward to it for quite some time. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for next weekend.

Fishing on Fri was vary good on the Selway.

The weae\her was great. light sprinkles Thur. pm high on fri. was 80

A 50+ % of rain on Sat and Sun But the fish are wet alredy so let's go fishing.

I'm going this coming weekend. Going to close my office early, hop on the bike and motor down there. The weather was pretty bad up here, it snowed on Friday, rained part of the day Saturday, and the wind blew like crazy too. It looks like this coming weekend will be much more suitable for riding the motorcycle.

Man, when it rains, it pours. I was all set to head out early on Friday to head down to Idaho to fish. I just found out that a friend of ours' father-in-law passed away today, and they have asked me to play my bagpipes at the funeral. I just can't say no, so now, I'm going to head down there after the funeral on Saturday, and come home on Sunday afternoon. At least I'll get to fish, but I was really looking to a few days there.
