Mike,
I'm tying 3 Gary LaFontaine's caddis patterns.
3 patterns x 3 sizes x 6 color combinations and 3 of each = 162 flies.
Allan
42 dozen craneflies (actually Delta-winged caddis).
Well, not actualy at this precise moment...... http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
Funny you should ask. I just finished tying a Finnish zonker muddler for a swap yesterday. Moments ago I came up from the vise where I tied a "salmon" fly -- my son brought his lady friend home from college a few weeks ago, and it was the first time I met her. She had firey red hair under blond with red streaks. First thing I said was that she'd make a great bass fly, which sent her into a giggling fit. Funny girl and a great character. So I tied a red zonker tail onto a large salmon hook, laid down a bright red yarn body with an overlay of silver tinsel. A bib and wing of bright yellow bucktail, accented with some pearl flash, with a bright red bucktail wing over the top. Next step is to build a little shadow box and have a friend do a small plaque reading, "First Impressions." They'll be home Wednesday or Thursday and I'll lay it on her then. Hee, hee! (actually, as gaudy as it sounds the fly really doesn't look that bad). JGW
Midge emergers, and Baetis nymphs. As the season for the Caddis hatch's approaches, I should be tieing up a bunch of Soft Hackles

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it's a real short camping season.
The last fly I tied other than an ill fated Shannon, was this one on Friday. It puts the "Gawd" back in the gaudy fly. She's called "The Lizzy", and she's one painted hussy of a fly. ostrich bodied, brown soft-hackles with golden pheasant tails
For a salmon fly swap... tying a bunch of black prince flies right now.
For the box, adding a few more clouser minnows and planning on tying up some crawdad patterns for the local lakes.
Sean
nymphs, mallard flank tail, and wingcase, creme dubbing, grizzly wet hackle, palmered, apply, rinse, repeat.
whoa!..Ruger, great looking fly!
Hans.....the EB CDC and elk looks very promising.....one of the few "experiments" that will make it to the water.
Like the original, it's very easy to tie....take a cdc feather with long barbules and smooth them up from the base..on a light wire emerger hook, tie it in base back with a light wrap then pull the feather back thru the wrap to body length you want....make a couple of tight wraps then lift the tip and advance the thread toward the eye.....wrap the tip around the shank a few times for the legs.....tie off and add the elk hair wing. Let me know what you think......Jason
Sidewinder Spider
http://www.griffithscentral.com/imag...winder_col.jpg
Universal fly which will work on most species. I resort to this on 'selective' fish. Difficult to tie and the materials are a little pricey.
Need to take care on you back cast in case you take out a tree or another fisherman.

I too am tying a variation on the CDC and Elk. This one is a midge with a thin thread body and a ball of CDC at the thorax. The elk wing is gray with a stripe of white calf tail for better visibility. Sz 18 to 24.
Lately, local nymph imitations. #10 black Marabou Damsel Nymphs. Also some #8 Spongy (foam) Spiders.
