Same fishies !!
While fishing the run off on the Lochsa this summer, I ended up with some "documentation" on catching a couple of the same fish on two occasions.

There was one other fish that I caught a couple times but only have one picture of it. It was the most beat up cutthroat I saw all summer. Kind of felt bad even catching it one time, let alone twice.
I believe that I hooked up with another fish at least three times and probably a fourth over a period of about eight to ten days. It was the same take in the same place by a very large cutthroat and the way it reacted to the hook was exactly the same. Three times it threw the hook after a short tussle and one time it broke off.
Can't hardly wait for Run Off 2012 over there !!

John!!!!!!!!!
I can't begin to tell you how GLAD I am you have come back to FAOL!!!
This makes me very happy! :)

I am also very glad to see you posting again.
Those are nice looking fish.

You be careful with that Lochsa, it's a dangerous place to wade even when it's low - remember your broken finger.
-
C'mon John, we all know you have a few of them trained to hit your fly on otherwise fishless days. :) Nice looking fishies, Bud. Have you thought about making the trip over Lolo Pass to hit the Fish-In this fall? Dates are 17 to 24th of September. Sure like to see you there.

Great stuff! They're both big enough fish to have known better, must not have paid attention in school! :) Did they take the same fly both times?

Ive caught the same fish twice in one day. I was working upstream and caught a nice 16'' brown. Fishing my way back down i caught him again 10' away from the first time, at least he took a different fly.
In a river in NJ there was one hole where I have caught the same rainbow about 5-6 times in a row, every time I went there he was waiting.
-
Glad to see you back on the boards John. Thanks for posting the nice photo's.
-
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..... Big sigh of relief. Just elated you made it back sir !
-
Hard to believe a fish would hit two flies that look so much alike, especially when he's wearing one as a lip ornament. Great looking fish, John, and both flies look pretty darn good.

I have never caught a fish with another fly in it - have you done this a lot?
-
It took me a bit longer than it took you, John.

Took a black wooly bugger the first time, and an orange stimulator the second time. He was about 20 yds downstream the second time I caught him compared to the first.

John, since you have those fish so well trained maybe you should start a show and take them on the road. Thrill crowds and children across America, John Scott and His Amazing Rainbow Trout.

Hello Howard....
Hey John can he come to Central Pa to play????

John,
Please forgive my faux pas, unfortunately I have had a limited introduction to cutthroat trout. It was in the dark at Big Lake south of Whitewolf's residence. They sure were fun for a little while.
-
Have you seen Howard hanging out with a blond named Marina, or a small-but-vicious cutthroat named Pearl?

You do show your GREAT cards. You too must be a fan of "Last of the Summer Wine" as am I.

John.
Shirley your capture of the same trout over and over and .............. is a testament to the survivability of caught and released ( fly,lip hooked) trout when properly handled. peta. ( lower case intended) should take note.

I wonder, John, about the cut-bows, which are somewhat common in waters which hold both, but when most of the 'bows are of Steelhead origin, do they still "do it"? I would think the steelhead would go up into the tributary streams from the Clearwater, so would that be how that happens?

I think this pair is the same fish...a 19" Largemouth Bass.
First caught on 6/16/2010:

Both times I saw the fish rising. The first time he took a red humpy, and the second time I took him on a small, grey dry.

Sweet JUMBO-liya, John!!!

These pics were taken back in the late 90s, when I was a little younger and a little thinner. This fish came to hand four times in one month, but I can only find pictures of two of those days.

With that cold water, minimizing is good, but you don't get too much sympathy for cold hands.
-
Well, doggie! Here I thought you only had 4 or 5 trout PICTURES that you posted repeatedly! Who'd a thought!!??!! ;)

They sure look the same - even the left thumb.
-
What John Scott doesn't know is that his left thumb is the year's "must have" fashion accessory among narcissistic trout (those who, like English carp, like to have their pictures taken by/with the "right people").

I'd like to officially register my jealousy.

Interesting to see how long he went without being able to get that fly out of his back - you'd think one of his friends would be able to take it out.

A couple of years back, I hooked the same fish 3 times in about 10 minutes. I broke him off on the first two takes, but landed him--and my two other flies--on the third try. Not a very clever rainbow!
