i don't know if this works for cane bt it does for graphite
ice down the ferrule for a bit then hold onto it for a few seconds then pull
the cold then warmth usually does the trick
Try heating the ferrules, just a little though, too much and you will break the bond to the bamboo.
Did you try the behind the knees trick? It works, helps to keep the pulling straight.
Don't like the two person pull, seen too many broken that way.
Pete

There is only one product that I have never seen to fail in getting stuck metal parts to come apart and that is Aero Kroil by Kano Laboratory. I would highly recommend it. Keep it off the boo. just spray it on something like a dubbing needle and apply droplets to the edge of the ferrule.

Kroil is amazing stuff. But heed the note to keep it off the rod's finish. It eats paint as well as any paint remover I've ever tried.
Jim
Ditto on the Kroil.

Dang it Grubb,
I was just sharing in your victory dance
and in walks the wife. She says, "If you
got so goldanged much energy as all that, you better come out to the garden and help
with the weeding. Matter of fact, with all
that energy, you don't need no help. Think
I'll rest my eyes for a bit." So thanks
Grubster. Glad ya got your rod separated
in the right spot but next time, you gonna
have to do your own dancing.*G* Warm regards, Jim
Thanks Jim, I sure am happy!!!

One more to add to this string in case someone else has it happen. If your local store or cafe has a walk-in freezer, ask if you can put the rod in there for an hour or so. Then, while still in there, pull it straight apart - we have had this work when nothing else did.
