Wes,
I know how tuff this is to go through. Been there 3 times in my life and feel I will be going through it again within the year. It is hard to deal with, but, continue to think of the joy they gave and the peace they are now in.
Wes
Sorry to hear about your Pepper!!! My lab has the same name and I dread when the day comes I have to let her go. Think of all the good times you spent together and let that help you get through your loss.
Fatman
Wes, I'm so sorry for your loss. One reason I could never have a dog, I get way too attached and I don't think I could bare the pain. hang in there!
Wes,
I know how you must feel... hang tuff fond memories will help very much in time,
Be safe
Steve
My dear Wes,
I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry.
Betty
So sorry Wes, been there too many times. Keep the good memories, I know there are a lot of them.
Hugs,
LF
Wes,
So sorry to hear about Pepper.
I was in the same place two years ago when my companion of 15 years, Cuhee, and Australian Kelpie, had to be put down. I had my 17 year old cat that thinks I'm her personal human petting machine, but that just isn't the same as a dog. Fortunately, Z, let me scratch and pet Miss Lady, his adorable Black Lab, but that just isn't the same either. Cuhee left such a hole in my soul, it had to be filled with another dog. Enter, Ghillie, our English Springer Spaniel. We got him when he was 12 weeks old and he is my buddy, like only a dog can be. Now at two years old he thinks he's a fifty pound lap dog. His favorite spot to sleep is in my lap in the recliner, his favorite spot to eat his treats is in my lap, his favorite spot to give himself a bath is in my lap.
When the time is right, let another good friend enter your life, you won't be sorry.
REE
Wes
I am truly sorry to hear of your loss, it is a rare thing to find a true friend in today's world, our canine companions fit that bill to a T.. Our lives are so much richer for their brief time with us.
Pepper is waiting for you in that special part of heaven were good dogs (and they are all good) go and their owners.
Prayers and good thoughts to you .
Wes,
Sorry to hear about the passing of your pup. I have two 4yr old German short-haired pointers (Max & Sam), which I got after my 13yr old German Shepard (Schultz) passed away. I did not think I would get another dog, let alone two dogs after Schultz, but I did, and it was a good decision. Like REE said, when your ready, consider getting a new pup. Take care.
Best regards, Dave S.
Wes i'm so sorry for your loss. if you need someone to talk to feel free hun.
Sorry to hear the news. I have a 13 year old cat and I know her time is coming. We had a pet rabbit we raised from a bunny. When he died several years ago I clipped a small portion of his fur and tied a tribute fly out of it.
Sorry to hear about your long time friend.
I can only echo what REE said. When the time is right I hope you seek a new friend. Life is better with a dog around.
Wes,
Sadly, you have lost the most loyal friend you could have. Hold on to the memories. We think of our dear Cocoa constantly & her picture is still our computer front screen.
God Bless,
Mike
Sorry Wes, i know this feeling. You'll never forget her and all the good times.
George
My heart is with you Wes. I've been through 5 such losses. It's never easy, but happier memories are down the road.
Wes, Pepper is stil with you and always will be. Even as we returned from hunting with my current GSP today the talk turned at times to hunts with her predecessors. Memories of Pepper will be triggered at times for the rest of your life I think.
y'all are fantastic and very right. i'm settled a bit, i'll be fine in a few days/weeks what ever it takes. kept myself busy from noon til now and that helped. my wife, leona has been fantastic! i'm sure y'all are right, pepper will never leave me. she took me through the most difficult time in my life. for the duration of chemo and radiation she was with my daughter and pepper was the light at the end of the tunnel. the day i was able to bring pepper home and give her the attention and love she needed was fantastic for both of us. she'll remain part of the fabric of my life. she taught me so much.
Wes,
Sorry to hear of your loss. It's funny how they become family. When our Mandy passed away my dad had a picture framed of her. It hangs in the garage where she used to lay while my dad did whatever at the bench. 34 years later that picture still hangs in the same place in the garage. My dad can't bring himself to take it down.
Wes,
I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your companion and friend. It's so difficult to lose a little buddy who is always around and always ready to share your activities. Only people who have been through such a situation can really understand. 8T
marty..thanks. yesterday, coincidence or not, i went and bought wood to make a frame for my favorite pepper photo.
thanks 8T. this is my second the first was many years ago.
Sorry to hear it, Wes! :(
Wes,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Our dogs stick with us through everything, and when they pass, they are never really gone.
Miss Lady sends a lick of the tounge and a wag of her tail.
Z
thanks z and qk.
Wes my thoughts and prayers are with you. Remember that He loves all of His creations!
very nice nighthawk, thanks.
I send my Heart to you too Wes.
Oh, Wes, I am so sorry to hear about Pepper. I know how hard this is.
I have not read the whole thread, but how about visiting a shelter and walking a few of the dogs that lost their families for whatever reason? You would have a lot in common. Not to take one home, you understand, just to share some time.
Wes, the picture you posted has "sweet pup" written all over it. I know that you will miss her. I still miss dogs gone since my youth. But I suspect her time with you was worth it. Dogs are like that. They are members of the family. It is, I think, their keenest desire.
Ed
than ks kevin and ed. i been looking around at the available shelters to visit but ain't ready yet. i guess it'd be sort of like loosing a girlfriend and jumping into a new relationship in a week.
you're absolutely right ed. it doesn't change.
