... the new season, NJTB.
Much enjoyed your fishing report and pix, as well as the other entries to your blog. You got some nice flies there.
John
P.S. Congrats on getting the Transitional Dun published !!
JS, thanks much....I appreciate the kind words. I 'd been going nuts, missing the traditional opener with ongoing projects and whatnot. It was nice getting out.

Nice!
I almost went to the Tully today. It was that or Clark's. I literally flipped coin, and Clark's won. I can't say that I made the wrong choice, but it looks like I couldn't have gone wrong either way.
The Tulpehocken is usually feast or famine for me. I either catch double digit numbers or get skunked, depending on how long it takes me to figure the inevitable caddis hatch(es). Sounds like you had it figured.
NJT,
Nice report/photos fron you day on the Tully! When in doubt......... go caddis!

Redietz, I know how you feel on the Tulp. I'm the same way. I tend to get skunked most of the day, then find that 1/2hr that I get it right and catch a dozen fish.
QG, no msg? The only part of my blog that allows comments is my Journal tab. But you can use the Contact tab and that goes right to my email. Something could be wrong with the comments setting, because I hav never recieved one. I need to work on that:(
Ralph
OK.....I have did have the "comments" turned off on my report pages. It's on now in everything but the flybox.
Message sent under 'CONTACT' of your Link below R.L.............. Geez, I hope this works . Maybe I'm jinxed!
Cool blog. I loved the reports and pics.
Great Blog...I am actually planning to fish the Tully later this week, and also visit TCO fly shop...
I have only fished the Tully once previously (2 years ago) and had an unusual experience. After picking away at a few small rainbows over several hours, I had waded into a large open section about 3 feet or so deep (deeper in some spots). While casting there for awhile, suddenly I caught a 10" (or so) rainbow, then another, then another all on consecutive casts. Then I noticed that there was a "pod" of perhaps a dozen or more trout (all about the same size) heading upstream only a few feet from me, and hitting my caddis nymph each time I got it near them. It reminded me of a school of small bluefish, chasing bait in the surf. The action lasted only about 15 minutes before they moved upstream out of reach. I tried to follow them for a bit, but I could not seem to locate them again, or catch up to them. I have never seen that occur in a stream before, nor since then. Another thing, those rainbows seemed to all fight harder (and strike harder) than most rainbows I have caught elsewhere.
