I stripped off the ugly yellow paint and refinished it with UB40. I bought all new guides, reel seat, and grip and did it up. Now it is a deep reddish brown with green wraps, and the best surprise of all is how nice it is to cast. The action is slow and lazy, and if you push it you will be punished, but if you relax and let it work, it is a pleasure to fish. Total investment: about $50 and several hours. It was my first fly rod, and I plan to fish it for a long time. I can't imagine how a good glass rod can be.
