This time of year (it just started snowing in earnest) my homewaters are no farther than my remote control.
My "home" waters are 28 miles or 45 minutes, however you choose to see it. It's a nice little secluded stream in western Pennsylvania that holds mostly stocked fish along with some hold-overs and if you're willing to hike, a nice population of native brook trout.
5 minutes to saltwater....5 HOURS to the trouts
Thirty minute drive to my favorite fishing spot.

Fair representative of the rainbows in there. Browns live there too, but unfortunately whenever I've caught one I don't have a camera.

Another place I like to go. Thirty minute drive to trailhead, plus a one hour hike. There's other places over the ridge but to make it worth the effort packing a tent is a good idea.

Nice brookie that lives there.

About 1 minute by foot. It's right behind the house.
I guess I win the distance contest, but please, nothing too expensive.

PS: I envy those of you who must cross a stream every morn to get to your car but, such is my lot and I'll get over it.
