My fish basket, if I can ever find it again, has a floating top lid. If I toss it out and forgot to tie it down, it will still float. I can either paddle over to retrieve it, or snag it with my fishing pole from the bank.
I've noticed that I'm taking on a bit of water each time I take my kayak out. Don't know where the leak is. Hope it's not the plug.

Allen, please recheck the plug when the kayak takes on water and you don't know why. Been there, done that, and now remember it.

It's not just my plug I need to check. Manufacturer installed several bolts in the tankwell to secure things. Last year, many of them were loose, so I Goop'ed them and tightened the bolts down. They may be loose. And it's all to possible I have a hairline crack somewhere.
I'm only getting about 16 fl. oz. inside the hull after about 5 hours on the water.

FishnDave came the closest.
The zipper came loose at the bottom of the neck of the basket.
Only had abut 10% of the fish I caught.
Let me know what you would llike DAve.

Allenok ... 16 oz.? Here, in Florida, at this time of the year ... that would just be sweat pooling in the kayak.
