Ooooooh. It's just a background. I get it.
I glued Lt. blue posterboard to the back to my fly tying station. I had to take it off when we moved, but I am about to glue it back on.
Backgrounds help immensly on tying. I also use a pair of magnifying visors, and they help a lot as well.

I ran across this today: http://www.bobmarriottsflyfishingsto....aspx?ID=46005
It's less than half the cost of the Dyna-King profile plate and will probably work with many vises since the stem size is similar. If you don't like the white background, paint it a matt color. For those who have been thinking about making one themselves, but just haven't yet or those who have been trying to find a good deal on one. If I didn't already buy the DK one I would own one of these.

In this photo I have my FREE profile plate (Actually, I had the wood in my shop so there may have been some cost)

The base is a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 10" chunk of maple with a slot cut in it with the table saw. Then I cut an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of 1/8" plywood and used spray adhesive to glue white paper to it. Some day I'll get around to gluing pale green paper to the other side.
Works great and it took me less than 5 minutes to make.
