Last reports, the stripers are still in the river and folks are still catching them.
Small flies, #8 and thereabouts. Clousers and Cat's Whiskers. Anything with white in it of course (shad is the baitfish in the Red and Texoma)
Striper fishing is still good in the Arkansas River here, when the water is low enough. I went this morning and caught 8 stripers, 1 sauger, and 2 buffalo. The biggest striper was around 10lbs.
Steve
It's still hot under the dam. Scott Bridgess sent me these photos and I could not resist baiting you folks. But seriously, after the photos I'll add Scott's comments:

"Went fishing with my buddy Bill Adams on the Red River. (Semi famous fly
tier. World famous B.S. artist.) Caught one Striper 13 1/2 lbs. early in the
day. Caught another later that evening 17 to 18 lbs. (15 lb. Bogas bottomed
out!) All fish were caught using 6 wt. TFO TiCr, TFO 340 reel, 250 Teeny
shooting head line, 15 lb. leader, Gray/White Clouser. (Clousers were tied
by Jerry DeCroo. Thanks Jerry.)
Bill lost one fish I think might have been over 20 lbs. Hook straightened
out when Bill had to hit the brakes before the fish ran into some pilings. I
was tired of listening to the line and drag scream anyway. Bill caught a
nice 12 pounder and a very fat 15 1/2 lb. Striper on a TFO TiCr 8 wt., Teeny
400 shooting head, 20 lb. leader, Cyprit Scissor Tail Chart./White.
Not bad for two guys who spend more time arguing about fishing technique
than we do fishing."
thanks Scott
Looks like you've got plenty to smile about!
Well, Scott does. That's him with those big old fish.:)
