Hook Storage
I have used the 15 drawer "small parts" storage boxes, available at Wallyworld, for 20 years now. (They are also available at Sears, some auto parts stores, craft stores, etc.) The drawers are all the same size in the ones I use and, if one removes the partitions, they will, with a little finagling, hold two boxes of streamer hooks end-to-end. They will hold as many as six boxes of hooks of the smallest sizes (16-26), stacked. I label each drawer with the hook number and the sizes that are in that drawer. I start with dry fly hooks in the left columns. Next come my nymph hooks, followed by my streamer hooks. The hooks are kept in their original boxes within the drawers. I also have a 25 drawer box that has three different sizes of drawers in it that I keep all of my hooks for bass bugs and pencil poppers (8x long) in; in addition to several other tying-related items.

I also use the 15 draw cabinet on the outside of each draw I used a laber maker to show the type of hooks-size. Then I was able to get beed containers from someone who makes bracelets and necklace. In these small boxes I put hooks and lable them. So the draw in the cabinet holdes eight beed containers with 50 to 100 hooks each. One draw is for mustad nymphs size 8-18 and so on. I just add to the hooks each year.

Hook storage
Moreb, where did you locate the storage containers you are useing for your hooks. Are the containers made in South Africa or elsewhere? What is the name of the containers. I like the fact that each area has its own lid, I am not very coordinated and it gets worse as I get older. Thanks for the info, John.

Morneb your storage container looks fantastic, I need one of those. Where do you get them?
Here is what I use mostly.

My boxes are all full now, I need another container. I finally have almost every hook labeled and put in a storage container. I am working on a hook list in Word too. That way I can look up what I have, and make notes of what I need for future ordering.

Does anyone remember Tiemco's Hook Books. I have 6 of them on the shelf for all of my hooks size 8 and down. They're terrific, but alas they quit making them.

Okay gang, I know this thread is old, okay rusted, but i found some containers very similar, if not identical to the ones Morneb showed in his reply on this thread. Check at Joann's fabric and Amazon.com. These are Darice 82 piece Elizabeth Ward bead storage solution tiny container storage trays. I just found them looking for some new ideas for hook storage. They also have them in several sizes and can be bought without the tray and tray lid. Hope this helps, I will probably post this in the regular tying thread also. Take care, John.:)
