Life would be much easier if they would only eat 12 & 14 Elk hairs! But again - it saves us from sprained wrists from constantly having a fish on...so you have to appreciate their consideration.
That's what happen to me. I was going nuts trying to figure out what they were feeding on. I threw everything but the kitchen sink at them. Nothing!
I never dreamed in my wildest imagination that i'd have to match those specs on the water. The flies I ordered will come today. I'll see if I can make them work tonight. I'm sure they will look small at#22 compared to my normal 14-16 flies. I hope I can get the tippet threaded. I don't have a threader that goes that small. I see frustration in my future.
Re: What Is That On The Lake?
I tied up a quickie on this. It is the Tiemco hook so nice wide gap.

I also coated it it Hard as nails.
It can be fished on the surface or a little tug to put it sub surface, and Gramps, with a Bamboo Rod you don't need to see it, you will feel it
Re: What Is That On The Lake?
Hexagraph is not bamboo Joni. ;)
Re: What Is That On The Lake?
THANKS JONI! That really helps a lot - I think I'm going to tie up a couple tonight and tomorrow before I head out on Sunday...
I'll let you know how they work.
Do you always use a loop knot when attaching? I've always used a clinch knot - but I can see where it would limit the movement of the fly in the water...

I was, but I couldn't find one that felt good to me. The last one with the Dickerson taper felt good at distance, but was not so good up close. Others were the opposit. The Hexagraph feels good everywhere, because it has no load point on it. Harry told me I can cast a 3wt to a 6wt with it. Haven't tried that, but it sure feels good with a 5wt.
Re: What Is That On The Lake?
Gramps, they have been out a LONG time and you will be the only one I know that has one, so stay in touch with that. I DO hope it is what you want. And let me know how it feels.
You sound like you want ONE ultimate rod, and this just could be it. How is the Action? (Bambooish or Graphitish)
Now, I forgot to mention to all a little worried about fishing a size 32. Most around her use it as a dropper off a larger Dry. Works FANTASTIC that way although I have never tried it my self. I have no problem seeing it or feeling it specially on Boo or the Far-n-Fine. Oh yeah the Lami and McFarland are great for the feel also.

Without question bambooish, but better. It's actually a Powell taper. (since he made them :D )
Did you read my Hexagraph thread? I gave a review there.
