Fly Gal - got your Free Styles in the mail yesterday. WOW! Definitely red! One question, what did you use for the collar/tail to get the barred red/black combo? I'm thinking that it was a red feather with black marker or were you able to use grizzly dyed red?? Either way some nice looking flies! Thanks for adding them to our swap and I am looking forward to your future colored flies!

Thanks Kim! The collars and tails are ginney hen. I promise real fishing flies from here on out. ;-) Right now I am having a heck of a time with buck tail. Thanks for the challenge on the Thundercreeks (I think...), I will pick out the 5 most decent and get them out to you soon. Fur seems to be my nemesis, it really doesn't like me!

Hate to sound sexist but a gal that doesn't like fur!?!?! Hmmmm...:)
I do look forward to seeing your Thundercreeks!

flies went in the mail yesterday

For the orange flies due in March I will be tying fatcat orange soft hackles. I call them fatcats because the fur I use is from my fat cat

I'll do Partridge & Orange thorax style, like the late Sylvester Nemes taught us, as a hommage to a great fisherman and a friedly guy.

Got sjo's and modocdan's RED flies today. Great ties and I'm going to nail some gills on your red ants, Dan. One more in and I'll post the pictures and mail your flies out.

Flygal - Got your Chili's in the mail today - Next time I run a swap I'm going to make sure that there is NO ICE on the water. I can't wait to try these out! Have you ever tied another fly by the same name - it uses the red and yellow fethers from a male Golden Pheasent and it is tied Killer style. They are great where ever carp have spawned. They look like the fry and the fish love them.
