The process begins
Having received the finished /furreled blank ,collected all the componets, and turned a grip , the next step will be mounting the reel seat and grip ....then on to guide spacing and wrapping..........I'll keep ya posted..........Ed
below is the collection of all the goodies.

The ferrules...
Hello Smernsky, you're going to have
a beauty when your project is completed.
I'm looking at the pic and I'm wondering
what the dark areas are on the ferrules.
Thanks,
MontanaMoose

Isn't the dark part the part that is over the bamboo, and the light part where they insert?
That is going to be really beautiful! Your choices were spot on!!
-
To answer your questions about the Dark spots..........the furrels are Blued. The dark blue is the female ends and the light is the male ends, Whan the sections are assembled it will appear , all blued. The reason the male ends are not blued is because that would affect the fit. Remember...No foreign material in the furrels, and that includes blueing...........Ed

Oh, blued !
Ok, that makes sense and what a classy touch !

Moving along
Moving along with the build, You will now see that all the guides have been spaced and tied on using "stretchy string".........this allows movemnt of the guides if needed before final placement. Next step: Wrapping, which should bring the rod to life and add some color to the mix......(sorry for the fuzzy pics).......Ed

This rod is going to be a thing of beauty when you are finished with it. The combination of components and thread and bluing and guides and that stripping guide is something that is clearly going to come together in a very special way.
Is this a rod that you plan to keep for yourself and fish with ??
John
P.S. I have a reason for the question.

Thanks John.....and absolutley it's for me , and I plan to fish this rod. It wont really be complete until it's caught it's first fish!.............Ed

The stripper...
Hello Smernsky, man yer makin'
me want to find a ferruled blank to finish.
May i inquire as to the origin of that great
looking agate stripper? Would it by any chance
be a genuine Snake Brand ?
Cheers,
MontanaMoose

Montana .....to answer your question........it is a genuine Snake Brand .
Also as a further note I may be changing the thread color back to what I originally wanted which was jasper (orange /black twist) . The bright orange was just too much!
I did some wraps and didnt like it! I know some folks on here hate jasper thread , but I still like it! I just finished a wrap with Jasper and I like how it looks,... and coated it with CP. (another no no to some folks). When it dries, I will coat it with permagloss and make a final decision..I had no problem getting the weave pattern to line up........either I'm a better wrapper than most , or I just got lucky..........Ed
