Big Bad Wolf,
The Caney is a really good river to fish and is only about a 2.5 hour drive from here where Jack and I are. The only bad thing about the Caney is that they have multible generators on it and it is very hard to plan a fishing trip there since they run their generators a little just about 7 days per week. It is just something you will have to keep checking and see what they are doing with their schedule. A friend of mine fished it over the weekend and they had a bear come down to the river to visit them! That is the first documented bear that has been seen in Smith County! It sure made the news!! The Elk River here where Jack and I are has generators too, but, unlike the Caney, they usually do not generate during Saturday and Sunday which will leave the river open for daytime fishing. The Duck River here has no generation capabilities but if we get a lot of rain, they will open the flood gates and blow the river out of its banks. Both rivers here were just made for Hobie Cats, canoes, flatbottoms or pontoon boats. You can pretty much plan a 1/2 day trip or a whole day trip. I have a Hobie Cat and a 10' flatbottom boat and will be able to assist anyone with a float trip.
 Whachew talkin' bout, WarrenP?!? Bears? Next thing you know you'll be talking about snakes, too!
Betty,
Yep, bears!!! Snakes, yep, we have them too!! I have been told we have rattlesnakes, cottonmouths and copperheads, but, I have lived here for 26 years and I can honestly say I have not seen anything of them. Now I have seen several water snakes, but, not the ones that could hurt you. Down here, most people call all snakes they see in the water a cottonmouth, but, in fact, they are harmless water snakes. I know we have the bad ones, but, I have not met any yet and hopefully, never will.
Count me in I am on the west end of the state but love to travel.
Alright, now,,, let's see some new blood volunteering and get this thing done. Should be a fantastic one; lots of great talent in that region.
I'm not volunteering for ANYTHING! EVER! All it took was one hitch in the Army as a draftee to cure that. However, Jack and Warren.....I cannot ever promise anything as too many things influence my time.
But, believe it or not....I might make this Fish In! That would be so good for me.
i would love to come too. huntsville is only about an hour or hour and-a-half from you guys (i even work in fayetteville).
tar heel,
You are closer than you think. Huntsville, Al. is only a 45 minute drive from my home. Fayetteville is only 22 miles from my home. :)
well, i'm actually in madison so it takes me exactly 45 minutes to get to lincoln county high school. although, now that this topic is up (and if you don't mind a brief detour)...which should be the first on my TN list, below normandy dam, or tim's ford? school just ended yesterday, so when i get back in town next wednesday i'll have the whole summer to fish.
