another method that worked for me 32 years ago: slow motion cold turkey. every day i smoked one fewer cigarettes than the day before. giving up just one smoke in the day is really no big deal at first, and then you get into the spirit and want to get to the end.
let me tell you, the taste of that one last cigarette (the after dinner one) on the very last day was so awful that the next day was almost easy.
'course i then finished off the candy bought for the birthday party!
