If the shoes fit...
Hey Andrew...
Welcome to the world of Bad Luck Larry!!!
Sometimes you find a pearl....sometimes you find (fill in the blank).HA!
Did you happen to phone customer serice? Hope it wasn't someone in Bombay! (Not that there's anything wrong with living in Bombay!)
Now if they treated you like (fill in the blank) that would DEFINITELY keep me from buying anything from 'em again.
I'm with you though: Buy locally. I will spend the extra money here at the local store than at that 'super-we've-got-everything' store...FIRST. Key thing (for me) when shopping at any store....after sales service! First and foremost!
Don't let it ruin your fishing. Keep smilin'!
Cheers,
Bad Luck Larry

Dear Bad Luck Larry,
You do know that sometimes people make their own luck, right? ;-)
I've bought more than 95% percent of the fishing gear I own from one of 3 shops, but sometimes they just don't have what I need or want and I have to go elsewhere.
That happens a lot when it comes to outdoor clothing because face it, there isn't a company on Earth that makes clothing for everyone, and even if they did no small local store could begin to stock all of it.
Most outdoor gear makers figure everyone is somewhere between 5' 9" and 6' 2" if a male and they all are incredibly athletic and svelte. I don't fit that profile so I buy a lot of clothes from Cabela's and I'm always happy with what I buy.
As far as their customer service goes the few times I've used it I knew I was speaking to someone from the US. There is no mistaking an upper Midwest accent.
Regards,
Tim Murphy :-)
