I have some cork sheets. Would that work for making these bodies? If so, how would I do it? I tried punching them with a home made tool, but it kept breaking the cork apart.

You can also make punches out of used shell casings. .45 .38 .25 etc Also Shotshell brass in .410, 28 Ga.
Just drill out the cap hole and add bolt, nut and washers as necessary to make an extension to put in your drill.
You local firing range will have an eternal supply.

Must have missed this thread....... Here's a brass tube from a hobby shop...I did the cut out to facilitate removal of the plugs...many diameters available...also an advantage of the long tube is you can bore through horizontally thereby making a long plug...e.g. I do some fairly narrow ones using a nice blue flip flop...makes a great extended adult damsel fly body.

I think using a drill press is the best way to go...but as Rick points out...the larger sized hollow punches need to be turned down...if you are lucky like me you can get a friend to turn them...those punches incidentally can be found at Harbor Freight..if you don't have a drill press have them turned down so they can go in an electric hand drill.
