This is the easiest most snagproof weedguard that does'nt hinder hooking fish that I use. I don't believe you can drag any fly through slime or mucky weeds and not get it on your fly. We fish this fly in heavy timber and if its in the water it will slide through it.
I might also add that this fly is durable. My retired fsihing buddy caught 130 2-3 pound bass in one day on one of these flys. He complained about his rod hand thumb being sore for a a week. The fly was still all there altough it did look a lot worse for the wear. And yes he was fishing a private pond.

thanks for posting that. I had come up blank on any nice videos and failed to take into account the good old written word! :)

Okyflyfisher, Can't tell for sure, but is the fact that the hook rides up because of the eyes what makes your fly "weedless".
This is my favorite deep weed topwater fly, the bendback Dahlberg diver:Quote:

It does go upside down which helps. But the double mono weedguard slipped over the eye of the hook and tied in behind the barbell eyes is what keeps it from getting hung up. On most weighted flies the weight is what get hung up first. You can usually roll cast out of that. However if you are in tight cover your roll cast ends up getting you into more trouble . On this set up the head is tapered over the barbell eyes so the weight does not get hung up and the hook is potected by the mono weed guards. Because the weedguard is tied in by the head it flexes enough by the hook point that you don' miss any fish just snags

A lot of stuff works till you need a weed guard.....that is why ALL our weedless stuff get these. 8) Wire and looped or connected.
