Caught five nice Bluegill about 7" and three Redears. Two were 8.5" and one 9.5". They made a nice Sunday dinner.

For White(Sand)Bass, I use Clouser's, Black Ghost, and a fly I designed-sort of.
It's tied on a # 8 Dry-Fly hook, Just tie on small clumps of Sea-Fibres, Puglisi-style alternating between top and bottom, in the appropriate colors to 'match-the-hatch' on the baitfish you want to represent. I usually use all white, and color the top with a Dk. Olive Green Prismacolor marker, and a bit of red marker for the gills. You can add dark stripes, or color them any way you want with these markers.
For a shad, use slightly bigger clumps, and put Gray fibres on top and white on the bottom. For a Bluegill or Pumpkinseed, use Dk. Olive on top and yellow or orange on the botom, then add details with the markers. Finish the fly by adding a pair of stick-on eyes, and coating the head with silicone.
They are deadly!

I'm from Oklahoma and love catching large blue gill. In May we tied up Richard Komar's Black Widow spider found here on FAOL and have yielded more large blue gill than ever....some up to 1/2 pound. Best fly I've ever found for keeper blue gill.
