Tube flies are used a lot over here for sea trout and salmon.
Unless you are absolutely determined to be a DIY enthousiast,
there are fairly cheap (remember, I am a Scot.) vise tools available.
This is in the expensive range -

Also, regarding tubes, Q-tips or cotton buds as we in the UK call them are an excellent source of plastic tubes, but if you want a tube fly to fish deep, metal is neccessary. You can buy ready made-for-purpose tubes or you can scout around in hobby and model makers supplies looking for the ultimate bargain.

Anyway here is a fly dressing board with a lot of useful info.
Look under - Sea Trout - and - Salmon.
There are lots of patterns if you troll through them.

Here are some more suppliers over here -

I know there are excellent tackle suppliers in the USA who no
doubt can satisfy your needs, but we do need the money.

Do a quick search here for 'tube fly'. There are lots of threads with just what you're looking for. Straws, q-tips, bicycle spokes, large needles are all inexpensive and easy to use.

I bought tube material from a crafts store, they were made of brass and aluminium for fuel tubes in model airplanes and cars.
I then cut them down with a cutter.
It was much cheaper than buying from a fishing tacle store.

Try a 3 inch Dolls darning needle. Heat bend the needle at the middle of the thread eye 90 deg. File the point of the needle. You can find different sizes. Works great.

Normand, Have you ever tied tube flies?
I've never tried tying these because I've really never seen a use for them. I just go ahead and lose the hook and the fly and don't worry about it.
