no trick photography (i wouldnt know how to do it) or dyed squirrel tail
pentax optio w30 set about 10-12 inches away from the subject
tripod to control the shakes
i take 2 pics with manual focus & 2 pics with macro settings
i then decide which one looks best to use
1 light above and 1 light below
gray background
just to let you guys know, this is one of my better ties in a long time. eyes are getting weaker

My mercy that is a clean tie, is it possible to tie this pattern on an up turned salmon fly, does anyone have any pics

Go figure. I liked this and the Queen Bess that you posted so much I decided to tie one up. However, I did so without refreshing my memory of the dressing, and I ended up with something that resembles a bit of both (tail: grey squirrel tail, body:orange floss; rib : flat gold tinsel; wing: grey squirrel tail; and no hackle!). A Queen Bess's Water perhaps? Hmmm, ... maybe not. :) Anyway, will try again.
