Do I drive West until I smell it and then South Until I step in?( Ha Ha).? From the stories it sounds like a nice place to be right now. Hey Zac lets see if we can talk Tim and Steve into some soft-hackle lessons on Thursday. I just bought a brand new partridge skin just last week, and I am needing to try it out.
See ya Thursday.

I've seen (and fished with) Zac's soft hackles. He needs no lessons from me. But I could use a break from all that pine squirrel; I'd be up for tying a few soft hackles Thursday night.
I will bring my soft hackle and wet fly stuff! I'm needing to tie up some Rio Grande Kings as well. The gills tore up the two I had available. Can't wait!
The crack of dawn refers to the time of day I left to go fishing (finally- I seem to have a hard time rolling out of bed that early anymore). The location is a state managed lake in Chase County, Kansas that I have more than grown to love for a quick Saturday run.
Brad, I didn't stop in town this time to have ice cream, but now that you mention it, I must be missing some-kind-of-good; I'll have to work that in on the next trip. I usually head up north 135 from Wichita to get there, then when I leave, I'll run over to Matfield Green to the Hitchin' Post for one of the best burgers in the hills and a cold one to wash it down. This weekend however, I needed to get home- I had a beautiful 11 yr old celebrating her birthday with a party in the park- icing on the cake!
Life is good.
I haven't fished that lake in 25 years....I may have to reconsider it. I'll put the Hitchin' post on the list of small town burger stops---along with Busters.
