YES, you could decide on some power casts and lift your arms up above your shoulders, however you don't have to with the little Doubles, keep your arms lower than your shoulders, keep your arms in to your body, and you will still have enough power in the rod to cast amazing distances.
Why, its all because of the tip speed, the longer the rod, the higher the tip speed, which equals higher line speed, which results in a longer cast.
