Fantastic idea!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I really appreciate it. I use the fabric paint to make eyes on my poppers and it holds very well. I had never thought about your idea and I will be using it! This idea really needs to be in the Tying Tips section which has tons of great ideas in it for those who have never pulled it up and looked through it.
Thanks, again, for sharing this great idea!;)

Glad you all can use my Idea. If we keep this thread going, and give our input on Tulip that we come up with, we all benefit from it. This is a shrimp I made a while back using a sheet.

Do you all think it could replace most shellback/wing case materials....that is if you are willing to go to the trouble?

That's a great looking shrimp! I bet that stuff could make a really nice baby crawfish and maybe even a decent lizard pattern for bass...

paint
I use wax paper and make 4-5 dozen eyes at one time. After drying I though away the bad ones. They just peel off. And I make difference sizes.

I tried using tulip paint to put eyes directly on some dumbell eyes. Dumbell me didn't rough the surface first. They didn't stick very good. I do get a second chance at them, now.:D

Questions
Some questions:
Are you adding glitter to the paint?
When you mix it with water do you do it on the plate or in another container?
Does the vaseline or whatever releasing agent you use leave a greasy residue on the sheet?
Would it work to use a mould in the shape of whatever you desire rather than end up with just a sheet?
Other than clear what colors do you like?
Guess that's enough for now. BTW those are some great looking flies.

To answer your questions. I mix the water and Tulip glitter in another container, preferably the type with a small spout on it so you can control the flow.
You can put glitter with any of the paint types, but the Tulip glitter type has glitter in it already. As long as you use very little petroleum on the plate you can wipe off the sheet, or wash it in a mild water dish soap solution. You can mix any of the colors together to get the desired color you want. Tulip uses a opal blue glitter in all there glitter colors. I do not recommend trying to mold Tulip because of the drying time being Farley long. Each of the Tulip types have different qualities. Glitter,Gellies, slick, puffy, etc. You can buy them in small bottles or the larger 4oz. I make the Hiromi Crab claws with latex and coat the back and front with the clear Gellies. If anyone wants to see the crabs Go to http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/s...ghlight=Tony.A. I hope this answers your questions ok.
