Well guys I checked the river yesterday the 25th of March at approximately 14:00 hours. The outdoor temperature was 40 degrees F. as a high and 33 degrees F. as a low melting our last snow fall but not at a very rapid rate, which is good for us.
The river is back in its banks and just below, 16'', the high water mark and moving fast.
The water is muddy with the top 36'' clear. I observed several anglers trying their luck but did not witness anyone land or hook into a fish.
After a Dr. appointment today I will again check the conditions. Our weather was warmer today melting ground cover snow faster to almost gone. I think this will play into our favor.
Respectfully,
Sean

Thanks Sean for the update.
As another update, unfortunately I am no longer able to attend this Saturday. Due to a living situation conflict I will not be in attendance. Janus and others are still planning to fish and I know that all who attend will have a great time! We'll have to set something else up in the near future for the OH fly folks to match some names to faces. Good luck to all, hope you do well and have a great time!

Not sure how you guys are feeling the flow is currently at 7,000 it fishes under 500...in reality it might not be fishable.

Hey All,
Since the originator of the idea, Wild One can't make and, oh by the way the flow guage is reading over 7000 right now! Any thoughts on a reschedule date?

OOpps it should read "Wild One can't make it and"

Before it rained yesterday the 27th the river was perfect. Fivedials reported that he saw some anglers walking away with some nice fish when he was checking yesterday.
As it was raining I saw the river going from clear to milky. It hasn't rained since last night 23:00 hours, 11 pm.
I am not an optimist by nature but there may be a chance to fish. Conditions won't be 100% in the green but you never know.
I will check again today as to the conditions. If it doesn't rain today it could be about 75% or better.
Fingers Crossed,
Sean

As of 1300 hrs, the Chagrin is at 6700 and the Grand is at 5400. This puts both of these rivers out as far as backup goes. There's always Paine Creek and Mill Creek off the Grand as options, but that is quite a haul for the west side crowd. There's also Arcola Creek in Madison, but that's a haul. The Vermillion is probably the same a the rest. All of these creeks are unstocked tributaries, but get a good population of fish, especially when the main stream is off color or high.
I'll stand by for last minute instructions and/or ideas.
Joe
Hey, I just realized that if I posted this information on TSS I would be banned for a THIRD time!
-
Shame on you Joe!!!! You have desecrated and exposed to exploitation our delicate put and take fishery!!!!!!!
In all seriousness, nothing touching the Vermilion will fish either.

Let's get some feedback here....Even if we can't fish, how many would like to meet for breakfast, brunch, or lunch? I probably have the longest drive, but I'm willing, as always, to spend time with other FAOL Family members.

FORGET IT THE RIVER IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE FISHABLE.
I'm up for breakfast or lunch though.
