sometimes your ISP actually connects you to their cached files. if earthlink is connecting you to files cached in their server, there is nothing you can do until they update their cache. shouldnt take long.
the only way to know this is to connect via a different provider. if it pulls up through a new ISP, contact earthlink, and inform them of their caching problem.
AOL is infamous for this. it allows them to "connect" more people at a time, and to do it faster. it also lowers their bandwidth transfer. it happens alot with larger providers such as AOL, earthlink, people PC, netzero, etc.
hope this helps...
by the way, software on your computer is not necessary for this to happen. no matter the software or browser you use, you have no control over where the provider actually connects you to.

Hey, JC. Open a Command promt and type:
tracert [url=http://www.cabelas.com:cdbbb]www.cabelas.com[/url:cdbbb]
When I do that it dies after a couple of hops and I am just accross the state, so I don't know. I can still get to the website however.
Maybe they are just blocking you since you have had threads full of complainers about them on your site. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif

JC, Earthlink does not totaly cache busy sites like cabelas. Even aol, the worst at this, does not cache busy sites for very long.
The problem you are having might be caused by Cabelas changing their IP address. and the route your access is taking has not updated.
Try typing this IP address into your browser and see if you get Cabelas:
216.251.246.203
tyflier, the software supplied by some ISP's for speeding Internet access establishes an additional cache on your computer. Has nothing to do with server cache.

I'm on Earthlink. Couldn't get to Cabelas last night, but fine now.

If it's a nameserver in your route then the name can't resolve to be redirected.
I had a similar problem with one of my sites a few years back. Some people in Washington couldn't get the site. It turned out to be a problem nameserver in Seattle.
I did a trace and my route arrives at their host, Navisite, Inc in Andover, MA. From there the trace is blocked by their firewall but my browser resolves to the site.
I'm sure the problem will be fixed soon, in the meantime if anyone needs to get to Cabelas they can use this link:

Just came up for me but there have been a bunch of sites that seem to have been haywire for the past 24 hours or so. None of the weather sites have been updated here since last night, and I had to log on a cauple of times to get to ANYTHING last night and just now. I expect, somewhere on the west coast, is a major node that is down for some reason or another.

Hey all,
no probs here and I placed a small order in the midst of this thread...while not even knowing anything of this.....

"I've often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before" A.K.Best
