I hand write that type of information on the rods I build with a pen and silver or gold Testors model paint. It works great. I also use decals with other information. Most rods come with a stick-on sticker with that information, but I like the hand written look.

HEy, I like this topic. My McFarland Spruce 3 wt. has nothing whatsoever written or printed on it. My Sharpes bamboo 3 wt. was scribed by the rod's maker. I like that personal touch from the rodmaker. My penmanship is awful, but if I ever build a rod I will surely write all the particulars on it.

I read something somewhere about 'magic tape'. Write your info on a piece then place that on the rod and from what I read, the tape disappears once you apply the wrap finish to seal and protect the writing.

My penmanship is not the best either, but if you practice a little, slow down and lay out what you plan to write, it is readable and adds that personal touch.
