Very good point about the gun owners....being from a hunting family and having been involved in target shooting throughout my teens, I seeth furiously when I hear about these kinds of "accidents." Why is there a loaded gun, in the house, accessible by kids at a party? There was a time in Newfoundland, when in order to get a licence, who had to pass a written test, as well as a practical where you must go to a range and show safe use and proficiency in using the weapon. You learnt all the rules and maybe even a little common sense. You also got a first hand look at what these weapons are capable of, and people often left with a little more respect. If all you need is a clear criminal record it's just not going far enough. When this gun went off, it could have been the first time it was fired. The owner obviously had no respect for the capabilities of the weapon and no real knowledge of the consequences of his/her actions! People need to wake up and handguns need more regulations governing their use and the acquisition of them!Quote:
