I have never been to Punjab, but I was raised by my grandparents who were English/Irish and always bought Raspberry jam made in B.C. Canada. The Can (not jar) always had an Indian with the turbin on and the name (I foget it) I want to say Nahbob?? Jam. It was excellent jam and always graced our breakfast table. Memories can be brought from the past for so many reasons, I am almost always glad it happens.
Jeremy,
Yes it really was a wonderful gesture. Wonderful people. I yearn to visit with them again someday.
Jonzee,
There is a large Punjabi population in and around Vancouver, BC (Surrey). The Sikh Temple here in Spokane is about a mile from my home. They sure get in the holiday spirit with the rest of us! The place is lit up like Rockefeller Center. They are the most welcoming folks I've ever met. The jam probably was Nabob brand. Popular in India, too!
Happy Christmas and Best Wishes to all in the New Year!!
Peace,
Jeff
