I think I agree w/JC. A bimini does result in significant give and tippet protction, particularly a double bimini. With 16# class and a 50#+ fish that's a good thing. But tying a bimini can produce a lot of heat at the junction and I don't know I'd trust it in really light lines. I've used Orvis' tarpon leaders and the supplier does produce a very tight compact knot. In the lightline freshwater version I guess they do have a convenience aspect in changing tippet, but so does a simple perfection loop.
