If I can only get one book, I would have to pick Advanced Fly Tying. I know that Production Fly Tying has lots of fans but I have no interest in tying fasting. I enjoy being able to take my time and get things just right. Advanced Fly Tying also has some great advice on the perennial cape vs saddle question. 8T :D
I have most of his books and I find them all useful. Which book depends on what you want to learn, each of his titles cover different topics. Two of my favorites are...
While I am not a production tyer in any way, I found 'Production Fly Tying' had lots of tips that increased both the quality and efficiancy of my tying. Now I can tie a few dozen in an evening instead of just 6.
I also like 'A.K.'s Flybox' It has lots of patterns with a few step by step examples as an appendix. Many pictures of naturals and of well tied pattern's.
i have to agree with kengore--my foavrite is the Flybox for right now--next week maybe Production--go to amazon or a similar site and preview--or better yet if you are forced to leave and not tye go to the closest bookstore with these publications and skim them
