Roger,
Have a couple Diamondback 7 1/2 ft 4 weight 2 piece rods. Was going to take them to Michigan Fish-In to sell/trade/whatever. You want first crack at 'em? I think I used mine maybe twice!

I tried a 1wt 7'6", have a 2wt 8'rod. that has not seen water in 3 to 4 years... My 3 wt. 7'6" is my fav rod and most versatile..
My new "Little" rod is just that ...a 5'6" 5wt Global Dober rod...I really like the feel of the fight on this rod, And the abilities it's line weight affords it....
I think more in terms of a rods length than it's weight and I'll not buy a rod of less than 3wt in the future just does not have the versatility I need on the waters I fish...Glad that others find places and ways to put the light rods to use though...

bill - I just picked a pre-IPC St Croix 6 1/2' avid 4 wt. I was somewhat surprized at the length of line this rod will throw. I have a few river headwaters and creeks I'm looking forward to using this rod on for smallies - if it ever stops the thunderstorm thing.
