Components just showed up today. Great turn-around time with Hook & Hackle. The rod color is a dark gloss Olive Green. It's going to match the Struble reel seat w/teak insert perfectly. This one is going to show some truly understated opulence. All the parts are going to blend into my favorite stick. Now, if I can only do it justice. Gosh! Hope it casts well. I'll be practicling Joan Wulff's techniques just to be sure. LadyFisher, I look forward to your critique at the Idaho Fish In. I'm excited to get started but I want to go through this one slowly. Wish me luck.
Blessings,
My eyes aren't what they were just last year. My wrapping needs help. The rod still looks like it will be a good one. The sliding band reel seat looks great though.
...and just how long do we have to wait for progress pictures?????? C'mon, Joe, we can't help you if we can't see the progress. Get out your Brownie Instamatic and start clicking away. I want to see that fancy shmantzy stripper guide you got from Golden Witch.

I just put the last finish on the last guide. Tomorrow it will be done. My camera doesn't take the greatest of pictures but I'll still take a couple and try to post them. I have dial-up so it may be a lengthy process. I'm not as happy with my wrapping ability as I was last year but I'm still real pleased with the rod. Yes, I did test cast it with dry wraps just to be sure of the guide locations before I put finish on them. The agate guide is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but still as big as the smallest of two normal stippers. I think it will be just fine. I think it looks great along with the Struble D2 down locking cap and ring reel seat.
Here is an attempt to show what the stripper guide looks like. The picture in the upper right corner of the following page show the guide.

It looks better on the rod than it does on the link.
That's a good looking guide. Can hardly wait for the finished pics.

Sorry for the poor quality pics. The blank in Gloss Olive Green and the wraps are the same as the Winston Green wraps. No hook keeper, but I don't need one.
