I made one of these a couple years ago, but it won't hold but 9 flies now. I need one that holds more at a time. So I am looking for a good motor too. That Surplus Center has some good stuff it looks like. Now if I could just figure out which one to go with....
Well, it's double your price range but...
OR
A 110 volt option for $26.
Bugman did you find the motor your looking for yet? If not I have one you can have but its not battery run. Shoot me your snail mail addy if interested. All I ask is that some time you pay it forward to somebody else... keep the cycle going.
A great place to find little things like this is at American Science and Surplus http://www.sciplus.com/index.cfm They're currently out of stock on they're little 4 rpm turner that runs on a D-Cell battery, but they also have others.
39639 D-CELL MOTOR

Well, I guess with no further posts on this thead, none of us know whether bugman got set up with his fly drier or not. I was intending to build one and send it to him free...because he has been good to me and is a friend of mine. But I haven't gotten around to it. Too disorganized and too much on my plate. Maybe I just send him a motor. The rotissere would be perfect. I haven't plugged mine in to hear it. I know of a past one someone else had....noisy also. I think mine quiet. But would have to find it and plug in to find out. But the one that was on a rod wrapper I came in contact with...I put a mark on it and checked it. It was 6rpm and I think that would be perfect.
Anywhoooo....Mr. Ivan....let us know please.
Lotta people trying to help you...but we know nothing at the moment....at least I don't...from reading this thread.
I was over at Bugman's house last night, and forgot to ask him about it. He did not show me any fly dryer, so he probably never got one. He didn't mention one either. He doesn't come on FAOL as much anymore, so hopefully he will see this soon. If not ask him about it on Skype.
If he was home last night...where the heck was he? WE are suppoded to tie on Tue nite at 8pm his time. I sat and tied the fly by myself. I was on skype for over two hours and never heard from him. I assumed he was at work. If he was home...I am a bit ticked he didn't bother to inform me of his activities......he could have at least called.....
I sat here on skype for over two hours....wondering about him, and if he was ever going to come online. I went to a lot of trouble to have the hooks, and and material gathered up to tie with him...because as you well know....I am in total chaos at my home. It is a mess. And I have to get it organized and cleaned up befor he gets here. I am fast running out of time....
Thanks Kelly
Come here with Ivan....we rip some lips!
OOOOOPS! MY BAD. Guess I have to eat some more crow here. geeeze I hate it when this happens. taste is awful....
I forgetted about the "OTHER" conference website! I sat here all that time, with my mind on other things and didn't even think of it. Wow. Happens to me all the time now. I need a caretaker. Seriously. I am getting awful tired of eating crow. I need someone to watch over me and manage my life for me.
I apologize sincerely to Bugman. I think he could have called....but he might have just been too busy with company and tying online with others. So my bad. Duh....
I could edit the above post or delete it.....but not. I will take the heat. I deserve it. And I owe him the apology online. Hope he takes it well. He is my favorite sporting gent to fly fish with.
I will let him respond to this. I think I will stay out of that. :-)
