Joe,
I got 30 Thursday, 50 Friday (all with fly rod) and 20+ tonight with a spinning rod. The wind was whipping pretty good so I thought I'd go after some bass with the spinning rod. No luck there so I switched to a small spinner and had more fun with crappie.
How is BV fishing this spring? I haven't been there yet.
Jeff
Jeff,
I haven't been over to BV yet so I don't have any first hand intel to pass along. Rainbows got stocked last week and Browns are suppose to go in next week. I'm going to WVA next week for the annual Turkey-Fishing expedition so I don't expect to get over to BV any earlier than mid-May. I've been hearing folks are catching fish. Just have to keep an eye on the levels and the temps and head over and try it out. Maybe we can get together later in May and see how we do? In the mean time, keep those Crappies on their toes!
David, that was a huge crappie on the fly rod, congrats man! I enjoy catching them, but I am not very consistant about finding locations. I had panfish for dinner last night and now want to find some more. I tend to mostly fish from the bank, but find the crappies and gills the best from the boat.
Your own pond, that would be seriously cool!
Rick
I own a 1-acre pond, but its about an hour drive from my house, so I haven't fished it in 2 years! There's no crappies in it.
However, the pond I fished this weekend is a public pond that is just a few blocks from my house. Since its a public pond, I release all the fish and USUALLY use flies with barbless hooks, to minimize damage to the fish.
A lot of neighborhood kids fish the pond, and most kids don't care how big the fish are (me neither, they're all fun), so its one of those places you just want good numbers of fish. :D
