Has to be a Copper John...red, green or brass - doesn't matter. Catches fish summer, winter, sprint and fall and always manages to find fish.
And fish are usually eating...but not always on the surface...which is why it will always work.
I second the Copper John.
I don't get to fish much and this thread is giving me ideas for flies to try next time on the water. Keep 'em comin!

For a dry fly-a # 10 or 12 Yellow stone. It works well on small streams as a searching pattern. Streamer? Olive Matuka-sizes 6-10.
