A345 or A350 Finepx
Has anyone tried either of these digital cameras....The Fujifilm A345 or A350 Finepix.
If so, could I have your opinion please as
I have never owned a digital camera and don't
want my first one to be a lemon.
Thank you in advance.
Happy fishing all.

mar-lodge...
If you a flyfisherman you should go with the Pentax Optio 43WR. 4 megapixel and can be submerged in up to 3 feet of water for 3 hours. Excellent image quality and ease of use. Reasonably priced too.

We have the Finepix 2650, but I'm not familiar with the 2 models you mentioned. It's been a great camera except that the view screen on the back stopped working after about 2 years. But we don't really need it, so it wasn't that big of a deal. It takes great pictures and has a lot of versatility in resolution. It also shoots digital video (short clips).

If you are interestedin water resistant cameras, the Pentax in either the wr33 or wr43 is a great camera. If you don't need the water resistant feature, the Finepix S5000 is a super camera. Especially the older S5000 with the Super CCD. I have no experience wit either of the models you mention.

These are the idle thoughts that posses a man's mind when he's not able to fish.

Suggest checking out info on digital cameras
befor you purchase. Here are some good links to begin your investigation. http://www.dcviews.com/[/url:f7d6c] and http://www.dpreview.com/[/url:f7d6c]

Pentax has a new waterproof camera, the Optio WP. It's a tiny thing but has 5 megapixels, 3X optical and 4X digital zoom and a bunch of other nice features. I've been using mine for two weeka and am very satisfied. The only negative I've found so far is that there's no optical viewfinder, just the digital screen, which can be a pain in the neck in bright sunlight, particularly when wearing polarized sun glasses.

I strongly recommend a true optical view finder. Those little screens on the back are the weak link in the whole system.

Probably the best tip is DO NOT depend on megapixel rating only. There is a whole lot of electronics required to translate MP's to the final displayed image.Obviously the higher end cameras usually have more of this interpretive ability. Since I know it all, I bought a SONY WT 1. My friend who knows even more, bought an Olympus. Mine is NOT water friendly. His is.

Hi mar_lodge:
I have a Sony DSC-P200 and it Rocks! (As my 8 yr. old would say) Look at it at www.dpreview.com.[/url:da5c6]
You cant go wrong with this camera!
A few weeks ago someone asked about digital camera advice, so search the forum and read that post. Lots of information (and opinions). There was also commentary on what else you will need (software and printer).

I have a FinePix A340. I think it is a great value. It does nice close shots of flies and such as well as good distance shots. It is not as nice as a true SLR Digital, but then it does not cost near as much either. I am happy with my purchase.
