Hey Chris,
Brings back memories.*G* The Navy
called it TAD (Temporary Additional Duty),
or (Traveling Around Drunk) depending on
who you ask. Some of these tips would have
been handy back in the day.*G* Warm
regards, Jim

What do you mean "New Rules"? That was the way it was even back when I was in the Army. Guess they just made it official.

ahh 1986 35 days laying on a beach in Puerto Rico at taxpayer expense,Great month If I worked 80 hours that month I would be surprised.Gotta love the story behind it though.I was the new guy in the battalion maint.shop.My section were sitting in the motorpool getting our morning briefing when the 1st.Sgt.walked in and asked for a volunteer.well since I was the new guy I got volunteered instantly by the whole group.
they all started backpedalling as soon as he asked me for my boot size for new jungle boots for a 30+ day TDY assignment.
I still think about the look on my squad leaders face when Top said "hey you volunteered him and he's going"best accidental vacation of my life thankfully the squadleader pcs'ed soon after my return.

Hey, they forgot the military hop. Shake and bake in the C-130 or freeze your butt off in the C-141 or C-5. All it costs you is $15 bucks to go from Ft. Hood to Pittsburgh via Alaska!
