Equipment, material and flies

Hello to all! I was wondering if I can get some information from the 'veteran'fly tyers. I have recently started tying again and have attending classes to get me going. Although the classes mainly covered trout flies (for fresh water, I am into large/small mouth), I wanted to expand to start tying salt water flies. As I am in the northeast, I would love to know what equipment (other than the standard stuff) I need, what material to help tie and what flies I should have in my arsenal for blues and strippers. I am also planning several trips down south, so tarpon, bonefish, redfish and permit flies would also help. If it is too long to post here, you can get me directly at tb102165@aol.com. Hi Chris. I'm definitely no veteran, but I do own just about every fly tying material known to man.

After investing thousands of dollars on every shimmery, fuzzy, clicking, fluttery thing I could find you know what I've determined? All you really need to make a good, fish catching saltwater fly is bucktail, a deciever patch of feathers, and thread. Oh, don't forget the $2 pack of Mustad hooks.

Everything else is for catching fishermen.

Chris, What FF means is start out with some simple flys like deceivers, Clousers, blondes etc. and go from there. Simple flys work fine.

Try to cover the water in three levels.
Top, mid, and bottom
Size, profile,action and color are important in about that order.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention which flies. Dudley has correctly divined my intentions. It's the Jedi-like presence all fly fisherman eventually develop.

Yes, simple is good. It's by no means the most fun, but it's the most practical.
