Thinning Head Cement Question

I was wondering if I could thin a bottle of Loon Outdoors Water Based Head Cement with just plain old tap water?

I know this sounds like a pretty dumb question, but I figured that since it's water based, then it would make sense that it would thin with water. But after checking Loon's web site, I see that they make a product just for thinning their head cement.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some alcohol based cements can be cleaned up with water. Try a batch and see. Let me know what happens as a water thin or clean up would be nice>

Jack I use FLY-TITE fly tying cement that uses Denatured ethyl alcohol--quote-- This cement can be dilluted with denatured alcohol. Do not use vodka or rubbing alcohol as they contain too much water.

use ethanol, commonly sold as shellac thinner or fondue fuel.

while water may work it will slow down the drying.

I called Loon about this question a while back, and I am pretty sure they said plain water was fine for any water based products, but you might take a little out and try it before you do the whole bottle.

Many of the more recent "less hazardous" water based paints can be thinned with plain drug store type rubbing alcohol, either 70% or 90%. Try it, it's really cheap.

DUH!! (Second time today) I shoulda' read the label!!
