Went out today and finally figured out what the fish wanted. Used a White Dr. Mike. Got bass and gills.
Also gave several fish to a couple of Amish kids I saw walking home from another pond.

It's gotten fairly warm here in Central Florida, so many of the larger fish have gone deep. I can still pick up Bluegill, LM Bass and the occasional Tilapia.Attachment 16005
Nice tilapia Jim! What weight were you using?
Mike
Nice Rick!
James, aren't those talapia supposed to be a bit difficult on a fly?
...lee s.
My go-to is a five wt since the Tilapia can get upto 8-10 lbs. I also use the great filet knife you sent me. Still sharp as a razor and just the right amount of flex. I haven't kept fish for eating in years since my wife doesn;t care too much for fish, but lately she's asked me to keep some and since the Tilapia are non-native and compete with the native Bluegills they get the "honor". They are also large enough to make a couple of meals and these wild-caught TIlapia taste good.

Jim,
My filet knife of the same size as yours is still going strong too. Good thing as those Warther filet knives have now more than QUADRUPLED in price with no sheath!!
Prices now are unreal.
We leave for the OBX in NC Friday & fishing with 2 youngest Grandchildren there. Little 2 year old Nora got her hair cut last week & when the hairdresser asked what she was most excited about, she said, "I'm going fishing with my Grandpa". She & big Brother Landon (he's 4) will help clean & bread the fish. Then we'll have a nice fish dinner which will be even better since they caught & helped cook 'em. That's a ritual ALL my Children & Grandchildren have done & still enjoy. They've all KISSED fish too!! LOL
Mike
Excellent work, Rick! :) I bet those kids were excited to take some of your fish home for dinner!
