Just for fun.....
I happened to run into a local cardiologist today at the hospital cafeteria. He is a Flyfisher, and we went to Montana one year.
Anyway, he invited me into his lab as he wanted to show me something. He primarily salt water fly fishes and often at Christmas Island.
So he rummages through the drawers in his lab and pulls this out. He made it with a couple soda straws. I thought it was quite ingenious. Dr Funai's Shrimp

Sometime back I recall seeing a video of someone tying one of those. It was fascinating to watch as you could not see what he was tying until it was almost completed.

I actually tied up some shrimp patterns with those flex straws for the carapace. They looked pretty good but they took too long to tie them up so I quit using the pattern.

Shows he has good eyes and is pretty good at making those cuts - just what I'd want in a heart surgeon.
However, looks like he missed slightly with a couple of those cuts, so I hope he's equally skilled with his fisherman's knots.:D

WE are a sick bunch. Every time my wife sees me studying something she doesn't think i would normally be interested in she busts me for thinking about using it for fly tying or fly fishing. Very clever use of a straw
