Sarasota seatrout
The spotted seatrout bite here has been off the chart. In fact, it's the best I've experienced in several years. I'm not sure of the reason, but I can tell you the fishery is quite cyclical.
We've been landing between 40 and 200 trout per day, with the largest going 23 inches. Most of the action has been on Clousers and Popovics' Jiggies. Floating lines and sinktip lines have been effective, depending on the water depth. In addition, we've been getting loads of ladyfish and a few jack crevalle, sugar trout and flounder.
I expect this action to last through the month and into April.

Had I only known. We were in Sarasota a few days ago staying on Lido Beach . I saw a few fisher dudes waist deep in the surf casting to and apparently hooking up with fish. Unfortunately we were having lunch and by the time we finished, they moved too far down the beach for a closer observation. I did notice that they WERE keeping the fish , a LOT of them.
