Help Defining Recipe
I was about to tie up this streamer pattern but realized I didn't understand the recipe. Hoping someone can help. Here are the ingredients of the recipe, as written:
TAG Flat silver tinsel
TAIL Red schlappen
BODY Flat silver tinsel
BELLY White bucktail
THROAT Black schlappen
UNDERWING Four to six peacock herls
WING Four black hackles
CHEEK Jungle cock
TOP Red schlappen
HEAD Carrie Stevens tied it with a black head with an orange band
SOURCE Flat silver tinsel
What part of the fly is the 'Source'? I've never come across that term.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Allan,
My guess the answer to your question is: oversight in proofing&editing the text ;-)

Hans,
Thanks.
I just checked back and looked at some of the other pattern recipes. The 'Source' appears to be exactly that ... What book the information came from. Apparently, the editing missed it on this pattern.

tyeflies; If you marinate the fly in Flat Silver Tinsel source, The fly will be more palatable to the fish. Check for legality of such an operation."G"
P.S. The source must be Flat. The Fresh stuff is too tart and will put the fish down.
