Cabelas sells a high modulus (approx 64000) blank XML that is made by another company. The rod blank looks superficially like a Loomis IMX blank. Does anyone know who the manufacturer of this rather appealing looking blank might be?

I know little about Cabelas but based on some magazine articles over the last year or so it appears that most [if not all] of their blanks are made on the Pacific Rim - Korea, China, etc.... 'Course a lot of other peoples blanks are also. If's there is a large pricing difference I'd think it'd be safe to assume it isn't made by Loomis.

Thanks for you observation. It is intersting to know or speculate who makes reels for Orvis rods for LL Bean etc.
Not sure who makes their XML blanks, but I know they are made in the USA along with their SLi and PT. I had heard that Loomis made the XML which I think the modulus is closer to 44 million (though moduls does not make a big difference). The resin and taper help to determine the action of the rod. I have built on a few of their XML blanks and they were pretty nice. Good buy for the money.
