I just ran out of 2487 barbless 22's - now there don't appear to be any suppliers in the U.S. that carry the 22 - anyone know of another barbless scud hook that comes in 22?

That is tough. There are the Barbed 22 version. Can't you squish the barb? I prefer squishing as it puts a little bump for droppers.
Thanks, I might have to do that - my 22's are usually the droppers, not the dropees, but maybe I should switch.
Has anyone seen the study on barbless hooks compared to the barbed? I read it a short time ago and cannot find it, again. Seems one researcher found barbless hooks have far less lateral resistance and tear up fishes's mouths more than barbed.
I have not read that. I have read and experienced myself, that the hook does come out much easier causing much less "handling and stress" on the fish which makes sense. I can't see how a hook minus a back spear can cause more damage.
My local shop, The Fishermen's Spot in Van Nuys, CA carries them...you might try HERE:

I debarb hooks because they come out of me easier.

Thanks all, the places you mentioned don't carry the barbless 22. Guess I'll just have to crimp them.
I will second Allen Fly Fishing hooks though. About all I use these days.
The Allen hooks only go down to 16.
