crickets II
tried the gills that could only be caught with live crickets, was out-fished about 6 to 1 but had success with march brown and cap spider. had a troubling experience with my improved clinch knot coming untied in 3 seperate hook sets on what felt like very good fish. my fishing companion had same experience on two occasions. anybody every have this problem or have suggestions? this occured using cabelas 4 lb tippet material that i had added to my tapered leader.

Excellent! You proved the fish would hit something besides live crickets!

Agree with Coach Bob. I switched to the Pitzen knot a few years ago and since then my knot problems have became not problems.

If the eye of the hook is large enough to permit passing the line through twice the Palomar knot is easy and reliable. It's the know demostrated on the sheet of paper with most spools of line I have purchased. For anything below a size 14, forget it.
If you can find a pattern that will compete with live crickets, publish the pattern, buy all you can afford, corner the market. I know people across and from the Magnolia state that will pay whatever is necessary for such a lure.
