That was one funny story! I would have bought a ticket to see that! Good one Roger, and good luck with the new "pinou".

Just read that myself. Don't know how I missed it on Monday. I must have thought I had to work while I was at work. 'my bad.
Roger- you are one funny guy. I think that boats can be like flies. It is often cheaper to go out and buy the darn thing than spend all that money trying to save money.
I have moved from using a canoe as my regular water craft to kayaks. I don'tuse the canoe much, but it is such a fine riding boat that I cannot see selling it. About once a year I take it out and feel like a king riding high in the water, sitting upright and being able to actually see down to the water, not across. Those Indian's sure had something right when they designed the canoe.

Gary, expect to hear from my lawyers immediately.
Jed, thanks. Pictures to follow in Pt. 2!

I might have thought a small (pirogue) which might be called a 'Piroguette.' But then I am not a boat builder. Well, two, but that doesn't make me a builder.
JC, all I got is two under my belt besides this one, and I just consider myself a jackleg boatbuilder. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
I called it a "pinou" as a cross between "canoe" and "pirogue" but the spelling "pinoe" seemed more likely to be pronounced "pee-noh" so I settled on the "ou" sound for clarity.

You could have called it a "canogue". http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif BTW, did you see the link I posted under the "New for this week" thread? I was wondering if that is similar to the plans you already paid for or if it looks more like what you were looking for.
Paul
Paul,
Yes, rather. The plans I purchased were "Niagra" from Clarkcraft and it was actually a 13'6" with a slight v-bottom.
This is a flat-bottomed pirogue that varies from tradition by being much wider and with much higher sides, and a little less rocker than traditional. There'll be pictures next week, but here's one to start with from when I added the forward seat:

Roger, You are a craftsman with words and wood working tools.(I've already Zap-A-Gaped myself to my vice if that illustrates my skills). If the fishing stays stinky in the Bayou your always welcome in Packerland.
Really...you didn't... http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif?

Hey Cuz,
I see there's already a fly rod in that fine looking watercraft.
Glad to see you inherited your Dad's ability to work wood in such a wondrous way.
